In the begging of the Fellowship of The Ring Frodo is left with a ring passed onto him from his father figure and mentor Bilbo who had just left on a long trip to be away from people to write his book about his adventures. Gandalf the grey then shows up and tells Frodo the significance of the ring and how evil it is. Frodo, Sam, Merry, and, Pippin leave their town in the shire and are pursued by evil black riders until they meet up with Aragorn and shorty after they are caught by the Black Riders. They stab Frodo with a cursed dagger that makes it so Frodo is unable to do much of anything. The company makes their way to Rivendell to save Frodo from the piece of dagger that is in his shoulder. After being at Rivendell for a few days Frodo regains his strength and He his party and a ragtag group of warriors have a meeting about what they want to do with the ring. They decide to group to accomplish their goal and make their way to Mordor going through the mines of Moria. When in the mines they lose Gandalf fighting a demon and make their way down the river Anduin. One of the most subtle but interesting themes was drug addiction. The ring represents an addictive substance or drug and the people that come in contact with it are the users.
